Atomic Summer Book Review

I just finished Elaine Walsh’s Atomic Summer and loved it.  Each of the characters in this book was beautifully developed to the point where everyone had their own story arc.  The last book I enjoyed this much was The Help.  The story revolves around a group of teenagers in 1953 terrified that someone will drop a bomb on them before they have experienced life.  Here is my Gooodreads Review:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So when is the movie? The characters in this book were wonderful. The story had me hooked from the very beginning. Elaine Walsh lands us in 1953 with a group of teenage girls-the bossy rich girl, the bookish girl, and the sweet, pretty girl who lives over a bar, then she adds the Korean War, nuclear paranoia, and religion. It’s a coming of age story that is well worth reading. Excellent!

  1. Teresa, your kind words are so appreciated. As writers, all we want is to be read and enjoyed and when we accomplish both of those tasks, it is a feeling like no other. Thank you for brightening my day!
