Book Blast Tuesday: Tied Up With Strings

Tied Up with Strings (A Serebral Seniors Mystery)
by Madeline McEwen

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…You know the song, right? Today we are featuring a Serebral Seniors Mystery Christmas Novella by Madeline McEwen. Madeline agreed to answer some of my questions and I was amazed to see she is the mother of four children with challenges. I guess all kids have challenges, though, right? Still, there is a special place in my heart for mothers who write and care for a special needs child or adult. Madeline is British so for her giveaway she is awarding a packet of British teabags and instructions on how to brew tea!  Here’s more about Tied Up With Strings.

An Imajin Qwickies® Mystery/Crime Novella

Big mysteries often come in small packages…

When curmudgeonly private detective Betty Grape visits a young friend, who is housesitting in a remote village in England for Christmas vacation, something seems out of place. Her friend, Catia, is visibly nervous. Is she worried about the young men in the decrepit caravan in next door’s back garden? Or is Catia involved in the disappearance of the homeowner’s invalid wife?

As an American, Betty discovers the locals are full of friendly gossip but taciturn about solid facts. Though they are determined to keep Betty from butting in on their territory, she blunders through the social morass of narrow-minded foreigners and their broad Dorset accents. Can she unravel the tight knots of this mystery? Will she find the perpetrator under thickly thatched rooves or behind floral chintz curtains?

Author Interview

How did you come up with an idea for your book?

Ideas attack me every day. Unfortunately, life interferes and I never have enough time to get them all on paper.

What scene do you hope your readers enjoy the most?

The denouement—where everything slots into place and I pray that I’ve delivered a satisfying and complete ending without any loose ends or niggling questions.

What other things have you written or what projects might we see in the future?

I have a British cozy about to be published by Dark Passages Publishing, but no release date as yet. I’ve also written two erotic romances [M/M] They’re HEA capers. Additionally, I have two more novelettes about Betty Grape in the works.

If you could write any other genre what would that be?

I’ve dabbled with romance [haven’t we all?] and I always have a great many short stories on the go. My non-fiction floats about here and there too. But to answer your question more specifically, whatever I write in whichever genre, it MUST have humor, although that doesn’t always translate well. Everyone’s funny bone is different.

Where can readers leave reviews of your book?

The usual –Amazon or Goodreads would be great—but if you have another favorite, let me know!
