Kindness Rocks!
A smile. An encouraging word. A thoughtful gesture. Each day people interact with us, help, and make our day a bit brighter and full. This is especially true in the Writing Community.
Take a second to think about writers you know, like the critique partner who works with you to improve your manuscript. The writing friend who listens, supports and keeps you strong when times are tough. The author who generously offers council, advice and inspiration when asked.
So many people take the time to make us feel special, don’t they? They comment on our blogs, re-tweet our posts, chat with us on forums and wish us Happy Birthday on Facebook.
Kindness ROCKS!
To commemorate the release of their book The Emotion Thesaurus, Becca and Angela at The Bookshelf Muse are hosting a TITANIC Random Act Of Kindness BLITZ. And because I think
KINDNESS is contagious, I’m participating too!
My chosen victim/writing hero to blitz is Elizabeth Spann Craig who writes the blog Mystery Writing is Murder. When I first started wanting to write I was overwhelmed by the actual business of writing. For me writing was very similar to having a special needs child. You are trying to do something that it seems none of your neighbors, family or friends have any experiences in to share with you. I had questions from how to develop my plot, to how to sustain my story long enough to make it into an actual book. Then there was the other side of writing, dealing with how to produce and market a book, agents, rejection and more and more and more. When I decided to indie publish my book her Ebook Services Directory was a terrific tool for someone like me. Elizabeth’s column was one of the first I found and have continued to read and enjoy whether it’s a column she has written or her weekly Twitterific listing all of the latest writing articles she has found during the week. Thanks to Elizabeth I went from fearing the unknown to studying it.
For my ROAK gift I have a hard time coming up with anything. I would guest blog but I feel like I’m more of a student than a teacher at present, so let’s just say I’m lining up my gnomes and giving a big bow of appreciation your way. Thank you for making it easier for the rest of us. If you would like to see her awesome blog here is a link. Leave her a comment to tell her how much we appreciate her! If you would like to read one of her many mysteries-Quilt or Inoncence, Progressive Dinner Deadly, A Dyeing Shame, Delicious and Suspicious, and Finger Lickin’ Dead they all all listed for sale on her blog page.
Do you know someone special that you’d like to randomly acknowledge? Don’t be shy–come join us and celebrate! Send them an email, give them a shout out, or show your appreciation in another way. Kindness makes the world go round. 🙂
Becca and Angela have a special RAOK gift waiting for you as well, so hop on over to The Bookshelf Muse to pick it up.
Have you ever participated in or been the recipient of a Random Act Of Kindness? Let me know in the comments!
