Book Blast Tuesday: Stabbed in the Baklava

With those gentle September breezes rolling in, how about we imagine ourselves at one of those little tables outside at a Mediterranean restaurant? Let’s visit with author Tina Kashian about her new book Stabbed in the Baklava.

Here’s Tina!

Thank you for hosting me today to talk about the newest book in my Kebab Kitchen mystery series, “Stabbed in the Baklava.”

How did you come with an idea for your book?

I grew up in a family restaurant in New Jersey. My Armenian parents owned a restaurant for thirty years. My mom was a talented Mediterranean cook and the grapevine in our backyard was more prized than any rosebush. It was a family business and I worked every job—from rolling silverware in napkins as a tween to hostessing and waitressing as a teenager. My tips paid for my prom gown. We also used to vacation every summer at the Jersey shore. It was a perfect fit!

What scene do you hope your readers enjoy the most?

The first chapter sets the tone for the book, and I enjoyed writing it. I’ve always loved weddings and following celebrities. Stabbed in the Baklava begins when Lucy Berberian is asked to cater a celebrity wedding at the Jersey shore. Of course, she doesn’t plan on stumbling upon a body during the reception!

What other things have you written or what projects might we see in the future?

I’m working on the fourth book in my Kebab Kitchen cozy mystery series. Lucy and Katie will return to solve another crime in Ocean Crest.

If you could write any other genre what would that be?

I’ve written historical romance under the name Tina Gabrielle. I’d love to write a historical mystery.

Is there a giveaway or promotion with this book?

Yes, through the blog tour I’m giving away copies of “Stabbed in the Baklava.”

Where can readers leave reviews of your book?

Reviews are super important to authors! Please leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads.

Here’s a quick blurb of Stabbed in the Baklava:

Lucy Berberian has taken over her family’s Mediterranean restaurant on the Jersey Shore after an unsatisfying stint at a Philadelphia law firm. It’s great to be back in her old beach town, even if she’s turning into a seasoned sleuth.

Catering a high-society wedding should bring in some big income for Kebab Kitchen—and raise its profile too. But it’s not exactly good publicity when the best man winds up skewered like a shish kebab. Worse yet, Lucy’s ex, Azad—who’s the restaurant’s new head chef—is the prime suspect. But she doesn’t give a fig what the cops think. He may have killer looks, but he’s no murderer. She just needs to prove his innocence, before he has to go on the lamb . . .

Recipes included! “A delectable read.”
