It’s World Down Syndrome Day! Today we think about, value, and love all of our friends with Down Syndrome. My blog post today is dedicated to my son and all of the wonderful young people I’ve met through him. When I wrote my first mystery, A Dash of Murder, I knew I wanted an individual with Down Syndrome to be a major re-occurring character who would be a part of my heroine’s family and a part of solving the mystery. I came up with Danny who is a little bit of a composite and little bit my imagination. Just like the reason for World Down Syndrome day, I wanted people to understand that people with disabilities are included in every day life–even in the world of whodunnits!
So hugs to my friends and loved ones with Down Syndrome today!
